you'll need a vented, grooved disk, 4 pot caliper, hydraulic handbrake and chrome plated castors if you want to keep up with Marty's rotisserie :) !

Doing some updates on my mk1 , I finally got the side flat and in undercoat


Also working on the fglass boot lid, the first one wasn't quite right so if anyone wants it locally send a pm with an offer.
What I done with the other lid is join it together on the car and tape it to the cars shape better , using tek screws to lock the shape while the resin n talc mix dries.

I bought a 30m long snake to try and unblock the storm drains, they've been getting worse over the years so thought to go at it myself using a gurney high pressure, failure, no good, now a plumber might need to take a bunch of cash to get it done.
That was today's attempt at domestic duties lol .

This is the fglass boot lid all pinned down to assume the shape it needs to be, it has a full inner frame and will bolt up as factory.



After that and with some hrs to spare I got the rear door cards out and trimmed off the excess fglass material , got it installed and looks pretty good.
I want to mount the speaker to the door frame so it's not going to sound like a 70s Sound4 system !

Small update, the boot lid was DA sanded and primed after sitting on the car for a week.

Fitted on the stone shield to make sure it actually fits as I rather paint it with the knowing it fits !


And finally there's been some rear panel action, some minor panel beating, filler and sanding. With the rear gantry so close to the panel it's awkward sanding and I got some skinned knuckles from it as well..

As for painting it the original rare Aluminium corporate colour, I've decided against it.. with the stripes I've chosen, it'll look like another silver/black combo car.

The fact I have a 4 day weekend every week , I'm still not smashing this car out much quicker, prolly cause it's a basket case on most of the panels but anyways I'll keep plodding on and suffer as I go.
Working on the rear panel still, it's been 'adjusted' by the previous owner and the repair wasn't very nice , I'm still adding filler and rubbing most of it off. The flat part where the number plate goes was the worst and since I had to cut the raised boss off and replace with flat, it's gone wonky a bit.
I'd rather some filler than a wobbly panel..

While waiting for the next layer to set I decided to copy a panel I bought from UK which sits in behind the dash on GT/RS models. The UK panel is made from 0.9mm but flexes like it's made of alfoil . So I made mine from 0.6mm, the same thickness as the dash panel. I only have pics of it made and how it sits in the dash..
From what I can tell, this panel does the job of the standard steady support but I'll look at pics carefully to see if it stays or not..


I will need to reshape the hole better

Doing a little bit of research last night while scanning parts for 3d printing (and the misso thinks she can multitask ! ) ,I found this pic of a real Mex mk1 which shows the dash opening is a totally different shape and it still has the steady support which I suspected it would since the steering column hangs from it too.

Small progression with the dash panel, I had been studying pics on how the GT dash panel looks from all angles including the back and trimming the dash panel to replicate an original one.
Also noticed the large hole has a 90deg return edge so I hammered the edge over to look like the real item, so here it where I'm at with it clamped in place before I clean the area to be welded afterwards


Today I also got 12x cans of primer putty delivered from South East clearance shop , was going cheap, also bought a bunch of socks from there too !!

if it wasn't for the sunroof, split fold rear pews, composite panels, silver fuel tank, Ali guages, or panelvan guard lips, you'd just about be able to pass it off as a genuine original.
 
I don't think the 12 cans of spray putty would be needed.
Socks never go astray though.

The 12 cans are not all for the mk1, tho I did test about quarter of a can already. It's for when I get lazy or it's late in the day to not bother mixing 2pk and cleaning after.
