Sorry to hear about the daily Marty, hope it repairable.
They're starting to get to that stage where I'm seeing alot around with P-plates attached and snap crackle and pop tunes that are starting to get tired. Much the way I remember the Escorts going before they started disappearing from the roads.
Worth saving, when the young guys start to get nostalgic later in life, like us now, they'll be fighting over the survivors.
 

Yes, they are getting thin in the ground and prices aren't dropping as the rarity is starting to creep in. I reckon mine will be saved as no significant damage was sustained. I'm driving my silver mk1 Focus ST170 clone (minus the engine)and it's so much fun to drive.
I remember when mk1 and mk2 escorts weren't worth 3 months rego or the battery under the bonnet, so many ended in wreckers because of that.
Also remember pulling a mk2 from a wrecker for only $90 back in 1998, later finding it was a one of those mega rare Escapees after rubbing back the green resprayed top coat and finding the faded remnants of the red and yellow stripes along the flanks.

Back to the present day, I managed to get the drain tubes connected to the sunroof front outlets, running them down the pillars and drilled a hole just in front of the door hinge strength plates, I bought connectors for an Audi sunroof drain at the sills, sort of a glorified grommet. I still need to plumb in the rear pipes and holesaw the inner C pillar for the path the pipe needs to drain without sharp corners. At the bottom end of the pipe I'll run them out at the front side of the rear inner wheel tub, if that makes sense, there'll be less stones/water/mud etc to cause blockages. Think it's time to design tpu grommets to stop the tubes getting rubbed and tearing.

Just a speedy update on the calipers and sunroof..

The calipers recently have pads now so I can get them adapted when I find a minute spare


The sunroof is almost set with the drain pipes when I can then get into another job.
The front pipes are all installed but still need to complete the rear pipes

Rear is till a work in progress as I need to make sure it's nicely flowing and also hidden as best as possible before the lining goes in..

I had these new door light/courtesy buttons from some eBay store, and luckily the pillar hole was the right size and all I needed to do was drill a hole for the mounting screw

More progress on the mk1 this morn, I found the wiper assy , not sure if it's the one for the car as the wires aren't melted from the fire but there's black residue/soot on the rods, anyways it's a 2 speed veriety and I tested it for working and loose rods but all seems fine so in it went.
To install it I needed to remove the steering support plate as the arms sit up behind it. Not a biggie though it gave me the reason to remove the speed clip and install a m6 rivnut.
Also there was no seals for the body panels so I printed some up in tpu so I hope it's water tight now. Deano out anyone else if you want the file let me know.
