Nice, those frames were everywhere when I was growing up, we stripped them to be converted into HackBikes , 1 gear, triangle seat, no guards and fitted cow horns handlebars, usually cut down as they were so wide. I owned 3 at once plus a racer (12sp) which I crashed hard into a parked falcon xB sedan one night at about 40kph. Destroyed the bike and knocked a tooth out with added broken nose, this was in '83 and I carried the broken pieces and blood 2 miles home . Great times !

found a pic. Painted with Killrust white, and virtually new everything else. I had to dith the plastic seat though, as in my old age I must have lost the callouses on my backside that we must have had at 15 when these seats were the norm. I pinched a padded version of one of the girls on mountain bikes.
Thats a classic Drew, you kept a great one, and the color is iconic.
Our bikes must have been Hackers as well Marty. We converted the dragsters the same way, including angle grinding the single gooseneck in order to be able to fit a BMX handlebar with cross bar. Then we welded the cotter pins in as well. Man I hated  dragster style cotter pins.

I had to do a sell off Drew also, all my bikes and toys got sold about 25 years ago: bikes, windsurfer, Laser dingy, anything with value apart from the Capri. All in order to buy this, our first bigish boat for $25k:

kept it for about 8  years, and sold it for $42k to buy this cat...

I think (hope)the kids understand the value of saving and a bit of hard graft.

Yeah, rotisserie looks well engineered for the job. Noticed your clipping the sill on, quite easy once you get how they sit. Your rear arch doesn't line up but care, your going bubbles so it's even easier .
If you cut the rear arches off nicely, can I have them for my sedan please ? Mine are binners lol

If I made the rotisserie again, I'd make the pivot height slightly higher by about 100mm, it was at about 900 from memory.
That would let it swing with the diff on still and clear the centre leg rail, but I did it that way to match my existing engine block stand, which became the from one.
Anyhow, still need time to pick the welding torch up again.

Sure thing Marty, if the rears are ok you can have them.
The front arch that has been bubbled was in really good nick, but it had been replaced with a Magnum or Expressed guard at some time in its life.
I found some bog in the rear guard lip, just  down near the sill though.
I dont think they gotten the shape of the wheel curve right, so I wasn't too fussed when the over all length looked too long:it matched up fine with the B  'post'  curve.

The underneath shape of the sill flange still weirds me, standing  folded up at 90* near the rear wheel, near the back as normal, but then blending flatter to flow into the floor ridge as it goes under the door opening towards the hinge.
Not having a good one on the other side to compare means it being cautious.

Hi Deano.
Just about to embark on the mk2 tarmac car.
I have been thinking of building a rotisserie! But then I got to thinking with the hoist, do I need to?
The main reason is to paint the underside, as once the construction is commenced it will be on the hoist anyway.
I have drawn a few designs and have heaps of steel pipe, purlins etc so its not a case of buying materials.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi Deano, cheers for the back arches even if they are a little manky I'll be able to sort them easier than my ones which are fully swiss cheesed .
The sill should line up to be welded on the floor panel outer side of the half curve and towards the rear it does go 90deg straight down just behind the rear jacking hole near the leaf front bush, kind of just behind the door opening . There's a flat filler sheet that joins the inner part of the sill to the floor but this filler sheet actually creates the side of the deck webbing at the wheel arch tub.

If you want I can take pics of mine too show what it looks like. 👍

Hi Mark,

pipe if the way to go in many areas.
I just went to the local metal land and scoured their offcut bins.
Precut gussets from thick plate were handy finds, and well as matching sized thick wall tubes that nested properly.
Then it was more lets say 'organic' in the design, started from the bottom, worked up, that bit looks ok there etc...
Pipe is more flexible (!) in the design than square tube as it lets you pick up angles easier, ie weld a tab on to tube and its sort of universal, rather than onto a then to a rectangle. Dont forget i'm an officeworker not a boillie, so apologies if thats std knowledge to everyone. You need a decent bit of stock trough the front panel 'gills' if you go that way, its not very wide.
my Mark II would probably have a height adjuster  via threaded bar to make it easier to get it on off the rotisserie, but higher than my pay grade for now. Just check Marties one for the you beaut version complete with disks and cup holders.

And Marty, sold to that man there.
It might take me a while though, I don't go at your speed but they have your name on them.
Plus my eldest has just bought her first batchelor pad, and I'm doing the dad thing painting, helping with the reno, new kitchen, carpets, floating floor, downlights etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etcetc, etc, etcetc, etc, etc

poor escort still hangs suspended in the shed with its guts hanging out waiting to be welded back in.... :(

Thanks Deano your a champ👍.
I grabbed a bunch of pics of the sills at the arch if you need them while I was messing around with the Tig welder . If you cut a good few inches and a chunk of the inners I'd be super happy. Yeah I can wait a while, mine has come to halt while working on the ute n stuff.... And the new project that I could buy very soon but that will back burner till others are close to done.

Thanks for pointing out my rotisserie , unsure if the cup holders work to well but😆!

Thanks for the input Deano.
Marty, sounds like you built the rotisserie around the cup holders. Good use of an old rotor too.
I might hold off on building one and see how it goes. Though I reckon there are pros and cons when cutting tube or rhs to fit wherever.
Problem is I build it and then once finished find somewhere to put it. Even though it would be 'modular'.
I bought a couple of those under hoist stands recently. Bloody fabulous. They have a 750kg rating so are great for supporting a corner of the car, diff etc while having the car up on 2 of the 4 hoist arms
Will try and get pics up of this build. I just kind of get into things and well you know how that ends... I'll get around to it.
