I think like you say the battery would have to treated the same as a boot install, so either sealed or in a case with a vent to the exterior. I don't think there would be any other requirements apart from that?

It'll be a AGM battery fully sealed so no vent or box needed only a secure mounting

Theres a red one out there too. We need to start a thread on these little models, apparently theres a black Escort Cosworth in the Hotwheels series this year.

Not up to date with engineering but the vans with factory A/C had the battery behind the seat, old school too, no vent just a cover. Maybe that could be used as a case/precedent for having one behind there now? The part numbers and possibly a diagram should be in the parts catalogue we have.
Car looks good too Deano, still watching albeit from a distance, new job is leaving me little time to come out and play

Good idea Drew! I'd planned to vent the battery box through the existing floor bungs, so that might work ok.
I've still got your address put aside, just haven't had a suitable opportunity to do the job yet, but I will :)

That yellow van is just crying out to be modified, maybe print off some arches and scale minilights.
Dunno if you have seen already, but here's a UK guy on FB making 1/18 scale vans out of sedan versions, in whatver colour of your car. They do get expensive though, since it uses 1.5 models to make one.

We can do a model thread if you want, long as my Mrs  doesnt see my secret garage stash..

I wasn''t going to ask this one now , as it might need some pics. Plus I should probably just work it out.
Anyhow..
So my dilemma, that you-beaute Narva fuse block  pictured above has 2 live feeds, prewired.
They feed the top 5 circuits on one wire, and the bottom 7, or thereabouts on the other. Both would go back to the battery.
You can't  easily  brake the common 'bus bars  down to make them individual, ánd if you did, its not really made to  add any  new feeds either. On the other side, are the  12 output wires.
So looking at a std Escort fuse holder, obviously the fuses are inline, with individual feeds in on one side , and corresponding ones out. Also, some of what might be the input side (lhs when you look at the plug end) are doubled with copper tags in the fuse holder itself.
So my question is, does anyone know offhand which side of the Escort is the commonly always live side before the fuse, and which is going back to the relevant circuit? It should be easy to trace, but i'm also just floating the idea that its ok to power each circuit then from the one (or 2 ) common 12v feeds where previously the circuits where separate.
I suppose I could power up the old configuration as it would have been originally and test with a meter, but so far its never been hooked up and i'd like to have something that should 1/2 work in theory to start with.

I got the fuseholder sorted and ticked off.
Narvas 12 circuit one wasn't going to work due to have it comes preconfigured. Ok if you just wanted to add new circuits, but not if you wanted to maintain some originalilty in the current Escort circuits.
So their 7 circuit one is better, apart from having connections on each side. The one Taff used is slightly better again.
Anyhow, since it looks messy, I'd follow Marks lead and install it under the dash in ste footwell instead.
At least, it kept the oem connectors, and could be reversed in need be. Plus the next owner can trace the loom colours almost as normal, back to the plugs.

It leaves only 1 circuit spare.
Unwrapping more of the loom tape, I think somebody has been here before me. :)

the inner roof vent is on now too, stuck with some Sika and not quite as ugly as before.
No point in painting it, as you dont see anything, once it's fully cured, we can get back to sorting the headliner.
I'm thinking to leave out the original ceiling light, and put an LED one instead in the vent cover.
There's plenty of space,  so long as it doesnt get soaked in the first rainshower.

That part of the wire that's been ' bodged ' is a factory mod, I thought the same thing when I unwrapped one of my looms, plus it's too neat for a yarder to do .
We had a Small Ford day on yesterday, I totally forgot it was on . My mate won a trophy with his silver mk1 track car , nice !!

Did anyone see Outback car hunters on the box last night?
They found and did a Mk1 Capri, 1600GT, light blue with a white interior. Thought of you straight away Deano.
Probably still viewable on one of those fangled internet tele's

weird... I replied Drew but it went yo god somehow.
Sounded like  good episode.
The Capri is getting the battery charged for next months All Ford Day.
Maybe even a wash too.
