Something wrong with the diff centre Deano..
Where's the LSD ??

Hope you got some bargains at the swap out meet. How much was the panelvan going for ? Not that I need anymore of them .
Edit.. parking meters galore.. No meter maids in sight 😭

drugs are bad Marty, you should not do LSD anymore.
1 day after, and I have buyers remorse: should have bought that.....
Not sure how much the PV went for, wasnt even tempted enough to chat.
On a side note, the 4 door escort found at the last sm in Geelong (sold for $5k, in about 10 minutes after pulling up), has now surfaced on FB of a local dealer...$9k something, not bad for 2 months work doing nothing).
Def no meter maids, the opposite: Swapmeet babes: i'm sure lovely people, just not MAFS material..

does anyone have an Aus  source for longer escort wheel studs?
The last ones I bought from Taffs where too wide in the knurl, and wont be able to be pressed into the halfshafts without enlarging the existing holes which would remove the lock knurl.
Ideally something like M12 x 1.5, and 63-70mm length, and from memory the knurl is 14.1, not 14.4 which I think is what I was sent.

I tried yesterford a few months ago but they cant supply.
x8 would get ne out of troble for now. TIA

I used to buy the studs from smcka performance , there are a few knerl sizes, Capri, mk2 escort front and rears. Taf would've taken your money and ran lol . Also watch for the shank on the stud as that can get in the way if wanting to put steels on.

My go to now is buy falcon studs, lots meatier than escort and a good length, only thing is the axle/hubs need slightly drill to work nice . I did this to a mk1 long ago and never had problems

Lucy in Sky with Diamonds, never touch the stuff ..
I think I sent a link to a decent limmyslip centre shop in UK, can't remember it right now but it's on my list 😜

Robbie
Mike recently put longer rears in mine, he uses standard mitsubishi evo studs which are 49mm but might be a bit short for your liking. I cant have mine too long as they are closed ended lug nuts.

Using this logic you could then look at extended evo studs which from this website and a quick google translate give a kurl diameter of 14.3mm.

I did check again with Mike, and he said he cant supply unfortunately..

I pressed one out from the halfshaft this morning, and measured up:
-OEM Ford van MK2  stud :12.9mm knurl x 30mm length
- Nice brand NS bought previously NS 3400: 14.4mm x 73mm (nearly identical to Robbie ARP)
-S3800 stud:13.3mm knurl x 73mm.
I was hoping to fit studs to suit the new wheels, but may have to wait until an order is confirmed. Compomotive had said previously, that 15x8 ML's now only come in GP4 fitment, meaning they would need the collared adapter tube style nuts. I'm guessing that the standard studs currently fitted would still be too short anyhow to use these, 20mm of thread length seems short.

The sleeve on grp4 studs is about 20mm long and then the thread of another 25-30mm so your baby escort studs won't fair very well !. Grp4 studs were used by all the rally cars in the day, Vauxhall, Datsun, Talbot, Opel etc .

What colour are you getting the MLs in ?

preferably gold (will contract well with the pastel pink paintwork :), but will take silver depending on what they can supply.
I finally extracted my digit and measured the diff length, overall bum width with the arches, and the poke etc.
Sending the info to Compomotive and they will confirm. Finally some progress. Might re assemble the diff again in the meantime, and wait until the wheels arrive to ensure I match the right studs. Finally some progress when they come.

the slowest thread in history now resumes.
In good news, 4 Compomotive MLs arrived by TNT:What a wrought that was. Covid limitations meaning that less planes are flying so there was no 'economy air', it had to be 'express air'. Fine no drama, except they were still 3 weeks to get here, which was 2 weeks overdue, despite being changed the express surcharge.
Things of beauty! Now just need to hunt down Toyo's to fit
