Marty you make me sound Like I plan ahead!
I've got a std underfloor tank that came with the van which looks pretty ok, having been powdercoated.
As to the sender, etc etc, who knows.
I'm not precious on this van about being original, for $140 with new pump and sender that would be fine by me, so long as it's not an issue come rego time.

I do have an idea in my mind though of rolling a new rear valance, and having a single centre oval shaped exhaust tip, Boxster style. I havent got to figuring how a pinto exhaust needs routing and if there are any issues with diff/underfloor tank etc.
Can you post link if you buy, happy to tag along.
If you need measurements of current tank, I can take happy snaps and measure tonight.

That'll be cool, depending if yours is the late mk2 tank or early pre 77 square barrel type, I'm more for the barrel type as it bolts to the ribs not by straps..

The rear valance is two panels, inner n outer, if you have the drop tank there's no way to have a centre zorst outlet as it'll be hitting the tank.. a sedan zorst will fit the std van but the rear hangers differ slightly and it'll not reach to the back, needs about 200mm extra at the back . I installed a hotdog muffler on my yellow van to make up the length and keep it quiet

theoretically is a 1977 shell, but who knows now what the mix is.
I read somewhere that the early ones have fixed/welded door hinges, great thanks, not adjustable without a sledgie then.
Anyhow, this is the tank I have, hope the pics help.

also, do I use these front struts which came on the car and  possibly are reco'd or swap over the 2lt ones?
I dont think its worth putting adjustable ones on a road car, provided the overall height is sorted ok first.

That's the tank shape I sold, wish I didn't now knowing how rare stuff like this gets.
Thanks for posting the sizes it'll give me something to go from .

Err yeah there was a transition around late(?) 77 , when the 1300 was ditched in favour of the 2.0 pinto and 1600 , also the interior got minor changes , steering wheel and dash dials etc, and the most noticable change was to smaller strut tops and drop tank

Struts look 2.0 veriety , if you want to cheap it by lowering, you can carefully grind the welds( with inserts out obviously) that holds the lower spring platform and then slide it down about 1in, be careful tho as the tyre height regulates how low you can move it down . True about not going coilovers for a roader , just set it where you like. I can't remember if I did this to my yellow van but did do this to the blue mk1 van

If you measure the strut tube about 51mm should be 2l and i think 46 is 1600 etc. Easy way to find out.

tbh i think coilovers on the front is a good idea, if you can engineer it where you are. Means you can get the ride height you want and lots of options for springs available. Also get rid of those oem top mounts for some roller bearing ones like these https://www.grp4fabrications.com/rubber-roller-type-top-mount

made the car much easier to drive

Hey Robbie those top mounts are proper tuff, I've a set in my blue van and orange mk2, mine are the original cortina mk2 towers I scammed from a wreckers when wreckers were worth going to, I scabbed 4x sets back then! I know their tuff cause I used to fly my Escort a lot and landing from 3 to 4ft at high speeds nothing broke except very very light reshape if the door gaps lol .
Deano gas large towers do they're going to fit just nice. Handy hint for dust covers is use mits magna /sigma dust covers, they fit exactly ... Should put this in the trivia blog lol

woo- hoo about the struts then. I'll  stretch the tape and see if I can get it to be 50mm rather than 46mm :)
I took the day off work today and got  some good progress finally.
The welder is dialled in, I can get 20 good spots/thousand now.
Actually, I read a handy Lincoln guide to using the flux core. Apparently after each weld, the core wire 'seals' over due to the slag, and your meant to trim the tip back each time so its right to go. I found this did make a difference, helping the arc to fire up each spotweld.Without trimming, youd often get it were the wire doesnt strike and pushes the gun away from the job.
I'm sure you are all sick of arch photos, but tahts about all ive got. Inner wheels arches are cut out and 1/2 shaped also, queue the obligatory CAD joke. Nearly ready for a skim of filler, depends on what the boss wants to do over the weekend.
