Some fast thinking and work going in there, I like that..
I've also picked up a 6spd and tailshaft for one of my projects , can't believe how cheap the boxes are compared to Sierra type 9 . Did you use an adapter plate made up or bought from UK ?
Cheers

Thanks.

I'm quite enjoying the build on this.  Reminds me of why I got into escorts over 20 years ago.

I have 2 other cars with Celica 5 speeds and they too are getting thin on the ground.  I picked up the rx8 box, prop and adapter plate locally some time ago for a lot less than a type 9 although they are even cheaper now. It uses one of Freddy686868's plates form the UK. Very well made although I did have to slightly elongate the starter motor holes to space it further away from the ring gear. If you look closely at the pics you can see the plate.

Yeah I've ordered one from Freddy, it's on its way. It's good they've made plates for duratec, Vauxhall XE , fiesta 1.6duratec etc .
Mine will sit behind a zetec blacktop in my mk1 Mex since I've sold the old silvertop..
Might also stick one in my mk1 van if I ever get to do work on it again, just means to take the Celica box out.

Unfortunately I was away for the week again and didn't get to work on the car.

While the kids were eating lunch today, I did manage to quickly dry the car tape it up and hit it with some spray cans.

Might even fix the overspray and black around the window frames.

Looks good enough for a paddock basher.

Hopefully finish the last few mechanical bits off tonight (weather permitting)

So a busy weekend just been, trailered up one the cars to the block, thrashed out a few tracks, pub meal, fire swag then home in the morning. Was productive but didn't touch the escort, so last night after work I cracked on till the early hours. Went to bleed the brake lines, only to find the flexi lines blocked and calipers seized. Oh well, swap out for another set. The starter motor wasn't up to task, so pinched the cae gear reduction unit off the mk1. Bled clutch, lowered it off the stands and hit the key. Fired up first turn, and to my amazement, moved under its own steam. To say I'm happy is an understatement. Few things to tidy up but I'm going to make this weekend.

Well it's finished.

Ended up not too shabby for a paddy basher.
Only had a very quick squirt whilst loading the trailer but the 6 speed and 3.9 diff seem a nice combination.

Here it is....

Well, the weekend came and went, car drove well given it was still on standard 1600 suspension. Managed to keep it off the trees and out of the dam which is more than can be said for the other vehicles! The only thing that really played up was a squealing alternator belt due to miss alignment. So now I have a stripped out car with no where to use it. What is out there that may be suitable??? Otherwise I'll pull the running gear and use it as a test bed. I do have a turbo Saab engine and rwd box sitting here.....
Lol

Thanks.
