As in the previous post I have temporarily secured the box sections (rivets) which will be the new gearbox cross member mounting points. They will be welded once I'm happy.
They also follow the angle of the mount (lower at the rear) rather than parallel to the floor as not to deform the rubber gearbox mount once it's in place (as seen in the side on shot).
I'll mock up a cross member from thin plate and once I'm happy I'll have the final cut from 3mm plate. It'll have a square "U" shaped cross section for rigitity - eg l______l
I may also need to weld in a recessed section into the side of the tunnel to get the desired clearance around the speedo drive extension.
