OK, as I need to remove the engine to continue the body work I need to complete the gearbox mounts. I purchased a replacement Celica gearbox mount as the original was shagged and then had a think about how I would do it to retain an OEM appearance.
So, A little time measuring and then draw them up in Solidworks to produce a flattened out template to transfer to the 1.2mm plate. These were then bent up at work and should do the job (see below).
They will be plug welded to the floor pan with the verticle section extending up into the tunned and welded to provide additional strength. The cross member will bolt to the longer horizontal surface of the mount and this will give me the room required to remove the gearbox if required in the future.
A "floating" tapped plate will be installed prior to welding in place which the cross member will bolt too through the new boxed mounts - similar to the principle used for the door hinges to allow adjustment.
I will rivet temporarily in place so i can measure and bend up the cross member.

There is not enough meat on the top of the piston to machine off if you were thinking of doing that.

No, that's not route I plan to take.

The 11:1 is with the following:
48cc chamber
0.25mm deck height
1mm gasket
85.5mm bore
87mm head gasket bore.
I have a program and punching those in gives me 11.03:1 CR

I will wait and see how it all unfolds.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Because I have been down the track with these pistons before.

With this exact piston, or just this brand of piston?

With the exact JE piston for a blacktop zetec.
I wouldn't warn him unless it was the exact one....

So what CR would I expect with the exact configuration I mentioned above?

What is the Zetec head CC?

Hi Paul,

I like the gearbox mounts.  Again another neat solution.

Let me know if you are mass producing as I would be keen given the quality of your rear disc conversion.

Cheers

Hi Matt
Stay tuned for the completed gearbox cross member as I'm expecting to have it temporarily in place during the week.
If you like what you see I can surely knock you up a kit :-)
