Thought I'd assemble my upgraded brake adapters for the R31 callipers. Here is the assemble kit below using Audi 90 rotors.

Looking good Paul,

I was thinking of ordering one of the alloy radiators from Ralloy, their stuff always looked like pretty good quality.

Cheers

Justin

BTW, you still working up in Cavan?

Hi Justin

I fully recommend Ralloy as their product is top notch and great customer support.

Yes, still out Cavan way.

Justin

One thing I have discovered with the Ralloy unit is that it does not fit up against the radiator support panel as the old one did. There is approximately 20mm gap where the radiator can be moved forward to fit as per the original - not sure why this is the case [x2x] Maybe it's to allow a thermo to be installed forward of the radiator?

In any case I will modify the mounts to allow the radiator to fit in it's original spot as I have opted for the pull fan on the back of the radiator. Looking at it I recon it's just a simple case of cutting off the originals and having another piece of angle TIG back on.

Now onto more arrivals.............

My Escort water pump arrived today to enable me to run the standard triangular belt arrangement with the crank, alternator and water pump pulleys. I have looked high and low for a grooved belt pulley to enable me to purchase just an Escort pump but I resorted to the Retro Ford kit (which comes complete with pump, pulley and gasket). I managed to pick this up on Ebay last week for a little cheaper than the quoted price (incl freight) from Retro Ford.

Now, if I could only get the bloody shell painted

Hi Paul,

Is that because you have a 2 litre body shell with the extra radiator cut out at the bottom? I'm pretty sure this was an AUS-only modification, so the pom's arent aware that we have this extra space, so only built parts that fit the UK/pre-2 litre AUS shells.

Ash & Paul, when I ordered my Ralloy radiator earlier this year I was quizzed did I have the cutout in the bottom... so all good there.
I went for a push fan and it sits perfectly in front, my 3 core 'original' radiator had a gap in front af about 20mm as well, I just infilled it with a small strip of alloy which now matches the alloy radiator as well

Hi Ash

The Ralloy radiator sits into the recess so I'm sure that it was built to utilise the extra room.

Personally I would rather have it against the front and give me the extra 20mm - although there is plenty of room with the Zetec. Plus, I had the fan mounts added to the engine side [B)]

A pull fan is more efficient if you have the space. It doesnt restrict or interupt airflow when the vehicle is at speed until after the air has been through the core

Hi Phil - yes I have heard that and this will be the configuration I'll be using seeing I had the radiator ordered that way. Removing and altering the mounts looks relatively simple.

Even with the fan mounted there will be 40+mm of clearance between the water pump pulley and the hub of the fan.
