Hi,
As a new member I am trying to find my way around and hope this post is in the correct location.

I am looking to purchase a Capri V6 gear shift gaiter/boot and clutch fork boot required and would appreciate assistance on where I could go to obtain?
Regards

Sort of impossible to find and if so would cost an arm, leg, kidney plus first child. There has been talk of reproducing but nothing yet. Could try Motomobil in Germany or expressed steel parts in England otherwise it's a waiting game on EBay etc. I bought a new shift boot but cost around $300.00 lot of money for a bit of rubber although want to match it to a near perfect vinyl shroud.

I have brand new exact reproduction (includes the small Ford part numbers) clutch fork boots which include the metal spring clip available ex stock for immediate shipping from Sydney. Reasonably priced too.
If you are interested email me at peterlytton@yahoo.com.au for details.

I have a gear shift boot in good condition ready to copy however appears not much interest in reproducing them.

Start by buying one of Peters (excellent) clutch boots, then use generic Mr Gasket shifter boot until you either find a good used one or they get reproduced.  The console gaiter covers the rubber boot anyway

With 3D printing becoming more affordable I reckon it wont be long before someone starts printing moulds for all these rare bits and we see the prices start to drop.

The moulds and tooling are only one part of the bigger picture.

The process of manufacturing each component, usually by hand, one at a time, for very small volume, very small turn-over specialist interest groups is where most of the work is. And needs to be an accurate copy of the genuine component. And don't forget all the individual packing, the mailing, and answering emails etc which often concludes with the sale of just one small part.

Prices would drop substantially for larger volumes of manufacture where automation can take over. However there just isn't the number of Capri's out there to warrant considering this.

So maybe it would could be attacked along the lines of "guys I'm willing to produce X many boots once I have X many orders for them. Price will be $ posted in an Aus Post express bag". Hands up who wants, and take a deposit/ prepay when level is reached.  Then you make this qty plus 50% and begin to stock a few, and move onto the next.
Anything that helps keep a Capri going is a good thing.

I have no idea if this would be feasible, just an outsiders 2c worth. I'd take one.

I don't know about the quantity being small for Capris. In Australia maybe but world wide their were quite a few produced in V6 Essex form. I don't know if you can buy them anywhere worldwide so the complete market would be quite high. Different gearbox and configurations but still one hole for the gearshift boot. I would buy 4 if available of both gearshift boot and gearbox boot.

Problem is that the shifter boot is unique to pre-facelift MK1 V6 capris and pre 72 only in the UK, so you are catering for the smallest section of the capri market with a part you cannot see.  you might get a few extras from Mk3 Zephyr Reliant Scimitar and odd ball early Essex powered cars, but I can see a potential market of under 100.  Then factor in what Joe average would pay (me personally $50), so you may have a potential return of $5000 for an outlay of about the same or higher.  Personally I would find something similar that could be modified to fit the V6 shifter
