It has been roughly 12 months since I started work on the left side floor, how time gets away however, I have a bit more of an update, the Right side sill, "A" pillar and scuttle are now done, It went quite smoothly.

A friend lent me his spot welder for the job that I was able to use in quite a few places, it works really well as you can see in one of the destructive tests and makes short work of fitting panels.

Have done some more work on the front end, I modified the original light bracket I had made to fit Lucas individual light buckets I found off a Humber Vogue. This arrangement gives more adjustment for the headlight position in the surround. The inner guards also need a piece fitting for lamp clearance.
The car was missing the bonnet latch mechanism and I have seen a few Fords of this era with evidence of flipped bonnets from the latch releasing so it now has a more modern latch assembly from a Corolla to hold the bonnet down.

hey Blue, have you considered fitting gt bonnet locks?
Rare spares sell most of the kit, new springs, cups, srews and the machines latches themselves.
I was worried about the Capri bonnet flipping also, mine used to get a good shimmy up, even after adjusting the stoppers and it was only the dodgy latch keeping tit down.
I have seen online you can also  purchase the strengthening plates that go on the catch, Burtons I think.

I bought some aerocatches to go on the escort, but are yet to fit them.

Well done, great progress ...........keep up the good work
NB........before you go any further, I'd remove the windscreen washer bottle lest it becomes damaged
during the re-works; they cost a fortune to replace, and it'd be sad to see it damaged since it's a rare oem.

deano I was thinking of fitting bonnet pins although haven't got any further as to specifics yet, I will check out your suggestions, I also liked the traditional chrome bonnet pins however don't think they are allowed on a registered vehicle anymore.
I still have plenty of body work to do (it's not called rough for nothing), have turned it around in the shed to do the rear end repairs.
I also need to sort an engineer who'll let me increase the track by more than 25mm from standard, has anyone managed to find any loopholes to get around this? I know the X packs in the UK has a substantial increase in track would love to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

We are very close to having the capri specific brackets for the XY type pins/locks reproduced.  CNC Plotting is done, just waiting on final end costs before making the big announcement, watch this space
