Yeah it's a debate that'll continue, I'm not going to argue about it, just would like to understand it more !
I've not seen those dots before , nor the Globe logo disappearance.
They were std fit on RS and Rally Pack/ optional on Sports Pack, I have a 78 van I bought a while back which has volanti's optioned, but weird as it's only a povvo 1.6 with base dash dials and a spare wheel bar in the cargo meaning it a 5th volanti's as it wouldn't fit in the pocket behind the seat.
I'll definately look for the logo and dots now. As with the paint it might be a 'as close to ally wheel' colour. Reason why I asked if painted is if they weren't they'd corrode and tarnish over time but they seem still fine.
Btw that one on the Goodyear stand looks really nice in silver

Yeah I reckon vapour blasting and a satin clear coat would be the way to go. Keeping them clean in raw state would be nigh on impossible.
Interesting on the van I thought only the Sundowners got the spare wheel bracket in the back.

I had this happen on my Sunday morning blast today.

I might bung it up on carsales with all of the other dreamers and claim genuine mileage

Not sure why the mk2 clocks lost a digit, makes it hard to know how many laps it's done unless it's logbooked.
Here's a bit of info, looking at your dial face there's micro dots at 22, 30 and then at 73,80 , 145,159... They are the expected speeds at gear changes, gotta be revving it up high changing to 4th !

Cheers guys.

That'd be 300 000km's, I've had the car since 140 and have seen it clock over once before. I didn't have a phone back then though, let alone one with a high resolution camera to record the event

Its been too wet to take the car out for the last few weeks so I've been tinkering in the garage. The latest project was to assemble the cars numbers match engine to original state.
I've been hoarding these parts for a while so it was also a bonus to clear some space by hanging them on the engine.
This is how its looking so far.

The a/c compressor and alternator setup looks quite odd hanging off the side but actually sits neatly under and next to the brake booster with no worries.
Its all quite a contrast to whats in the car nowadays

A few of the goodies I've been digging up, some engine lifting points that I threw in with a batch of zinc plating when the car was built and the nicest manifold stove I've ever come across with bugger all rust or pitting.

I'm going through all of the pollution gear at the moment, cleaning and detailing it before I put it all back on. Luckily I labelled it all previously. I doubt any of this stuff will ever be used again but its been fun putting it all back together and looks good sitting next to the car in the garage.

Pretty rare to have the AC pump and that stove pipe plate in such good order .
I'm working on a 77 Rally Pack that's all matching numbers too, only concern is the motor is seized, if it's the pistons locking it up I'll try the old hyd press to release the stuck ones. The RP is also yellow like yours
