Nice looking bit of kit, I had foam socks fitted over my trumpets.

Hello all,
Bogged down with what seems like a million little jobs to do, fuel lines are in, fuel pump wired with a fancy tachiometric switch  the rest of the wiring is just about done. Power was connected today, did a systems check and theres a couple of glitches to sort out but all went pretty well. Got a couple of pics of the 'angel eye' headlights, bit hard to get a shot of but they look pretty good in the flesh, the originals are hanging still hanging around in case I didn't like them but I think they'll stay and the others can get boxed and stashed now...
Cheers Drew...

G'day all,
Still busy with odd jobs but I'm getting closer every day, been waiting around for a few weeks for my headers to arrive, which they did and are now in the shop getting ceramic coated.
Interior is finished all bar a kick panel (for wiring) and the steering wheel cap (wheel alignment first).
Radiator, alternator, fan, belts distributor are all in now, headers are next then the brake booster and it should be ready to fire up, hoping to get it started before christmas...
Lots of finishing touches getting done too, got some fancy lead separators, some RS stickers for the centre caps, not original I know but they look the part. The mechanics at work were cleaning out and throwing away a heap of various rubber vacumn caps so I went through and capped all of the exposed bolts, even under the car, haha a bit overboard but I have been sitting around waiting for the headers for a while now
Cheers Drew...

BTW, do those horns fit under your filters?

Alas they don't, thought about filter socks like Len suggested but ended up using air cleaners so the carbs aren't so obvious, they still won't pass WA regulations but 'look' a little more roadworthy now...

Taller filters won't fit under the bonnet?

Couldn't find to many options for filters, lots of stuff for vw's (they're not too worried about complying with state emission laws either, lol) but most were too tall or too wide, not designed for side by side use... The next size up in k&n would have cleared the bonnet bracing by about 5mm and allowed the trumpets about the same to the top of the lid effectively strangling them... I may still look at some filter socks if I ever decide to do any dyno or track days in the future...
Cheers Drew...

Nice photos Drew, coming along very nicely. Were Volantes painted or powdercoated? It all looks so clean, I bet you can't wait to drive it :D

Thanks mate, the wheels were sprayed in 2pak satin silver. You bet I'm hanging for a drive, I've had it 20 years on the 11th February so I have a target date to work to now...
Cheers Drew...
