Been playing around with the axle today, working out how to machine a minumal as posible to retain max strength, on the back where the studs press though(now 12mm studs) there was a raised edge where the seal used to sit, i had to either machine it right off or countersink the stud holes.

This is not as easy as it sounded, i was going to have to make a vice to set it up on the paltform to flycut it with the mill, that was way to much mucking around, instead i set it up in a vice and carefully sliced the seal surface down with a 5" grinder, i know it sounds dodgy but this way the alxe has a lot more meat still in it as i only had to do 4 small moon shapes instead of taking a heap out with a flycut.

Ill get pics up tomorrow after i do the machine work on it tonight

so this means these diffs bolt directly in no need to narrow down or nuthin?

That is correct, all you have to do is swap the brakes and restud the axles.

Ive completed one of the axles tonite, ill get pics up tomorrow for ya's to look at, really quite easy if you have a lathe and some good tools!

that looks great, definately a future mod for me Looks like a relativly simple job, definately the easiest diff upgrade i've seen, nice work!!
Do you know what models to look out for to get an LSD centre, or are they extremely rare? What ratio is the diff?

There are heaps of ratios to chose from, i have a 4.875:1 in my ute, i have a 3.8:1 spare in the shed and the one it that i am using is a 4.37:1.

Unsure of the LSD situ, Cant mini spool it either, but can full spool it(can get) But i have made spider locking blocks that wedge in to the teeth and weld them into place, doing this puts no heat stress on stuff and work better anyway

Hmm sounds good.. i'll have to do some reserch into what centers came out of what, but the 3.8:1 is probably the go..

Im going 5 speed now so ill have the 4.37, i dont mind if its a little slower at the top
