The score so far - struts 1, 10t tonne power pack 1.

Seems some @#*&ing idiot filled them up with resin. Oil for better heat transfer I can live with but resin - [:(!]

Got 1 out but the other is so stuck that it bent the spring seat and broke the strut top. Time for some heat.

Gees Steve WTF would someone do that ??

I know someone that does have another V6 Capri strut if you end up needing one.

"Another fine mess youve got us into Ollie."
Not much regard for the future in that idea.

The saga continues, the second one is so tight that the guts of the strut pulled out leaving the casing behind. I would never have thought resin woud be so strong [8~2]

Going to try and glue a hole saw onto some pipe and drill it out[%]

Good luck Steve . Got to give to you! you are persitent I would have thrown them over the fence in frustation by now..
Have you thought of going down the track of converting to coil overs?

Must admit I thought about filling it with fuel and throwing a match at it when I cracked the foot of the porta power.

If I had known what I was getting into I might have looked at coil overs but I have already got my inserts and springs so going to keep trying.

It has moved 40mm but now that the top pulled out I cant grip it, but at least I have cracked the bond. The resin is bonded to the paint on the strut so if the drill doesnt work going to fill it with paint stripper to see if I can disolve the paint. If that fails then the match option will be tempting

Can you drill and tap a hole in the base of the strut tube and feed compressed air in there to push it out?

I thought about that but using hydraulic fluid instead of air (safer) but now that its cracked it wont hold any pressure. The porta power is 10 tonnes and that wasn't enough so it will need a lot of pressure and it will just leak. I've had a screw driver all the way to the bottom (broke the handle off getting it back out) so I now have no way to pressurise it and no way to grip it. I have to get the resin out so that its loose enough to fall out. The drill should work the only problem is that I snapped the end of a chisel off and its stuck in the resin so that will be a problem for the drill. Hopefully will be able to chip that out.

Its going to be an interesting weekend.
