Hi, just wondering how much i would expect to pay for a RN25 Hilux diff, 4.8 non-LSD centre, Escort yolk, disc brakes, already set up for a Mk2?

No chance. $1000 I'd say.

Standard rn25 housing, axles, centre - $300 min
Rear discs and calipers (r31) - $50-$200
Caliper brackets - $0-$100
Turn down and re-stud axle flanges - $200
Modify tailshaft or hilux flange - $50-$300

Yeah, it doesn't add up but you get the idea.

Rn25's are hard to find these days.

A Mazda b-series from around 1980 (b1600/b1800) is very similar.

His asking price is probably a bit high but they are getting rarer each year.

Depending on your power output you may be beter off getting a Trans X style diff. Smcka sells them for $750 - $1,000 and for power outputs up to 200hp will do a great job without the need of any modifications and certainly less stuffing around.

This is the way I will be going.

If you are patient and collect the parts over a period of time, and do the work ourself, it's quite inexpensive.

That's all I've paid for the two I have. Although as you want it already setup, it would depend on what the seller values his time at to put it together. Hilux housing $50-100, LSD centre $150 (I was actually given mine $0), R31 calipers and rotors$50 Brake pipes, hoses and brackets$50. Oops, sorry just reread your initial post, take off the $150 for the lsd centre.

I agree on the cost of the diff itself but not on the brake set up having just started doing it my self.

The calipers were 2nd hand ($25) rebuild kit ($60) new Rotors ($60 at Autobarn) Brackets ($140 Paul Dunstan - though cheaper if you can do it yourself) Machining $200 or a couple of slabs! New braided hoses connectors and brake pipe $200.

Total $685.

The above is using new parts so I suppose you could do it using the parts from the donor vehicle but then you are taking a bit of a gamble.

Also chances are if you get a 2nd hand diff it would probably be rooted 20 you would need a new centre too.

Therefore $1,000 sounds about right.
