Hi this afternoon wen i went to pop the bonnet in my 1979 mk2 ford escort i pulled the cable and it im pretty sure the cable came off at the latch of the bonnet because wen i pull it it doesnt do anything u can jsut feel the cable sliding through the outing. any body know how i can get to latch or pop my bonnet. thank you

Firstly check it is not broken at the handle end (a lot easier)

If not then there are two levels of pain for this one...

Flat front, take out the grille and get in behind the panel with a screwdriver to lever it, painful....

RS2000 with intecooler - remove nose cone and intercooler, plus other parts jammed in the way....Excruciatingly painful

The clamp on the drivers side of the radiator might have broke or come lose.

If you have an RS and no Intercooler, then you can open it with a flat bladed (large) screwdriver and a torch. Just lever the return spring towards the motor
