1.) I don't have wheels currently - which is why i need some.
2.) I want 16's purely to accomdate 40 series tyres.

So just to clear something up - my whole bent in getting 40 series is to reduce tyre flex on hard cornering. Now - somebody said these would handle crap. What did he mean and given that some of you guy's run them is this true?

3.) i lived in QLD for 5 years and yes they have the crappiest roads ever!! Especially in cairns.

The cars ability to change direction is slowed.
A good example is this years Gatton sprints.
Both cars that come a gutza are both Ultra light, with huge diameter wheels.

funny you should say that - i just had a chat with someone who races and they said exactly that - i should stick to 50 series coz 40's will likely cause cornering drift.

why not go to a falcon stud pattern? easy to do, (slightly expensive) but you can get an almost endless choice of wheels.

mainly coz if i do that and get pulled up at some time i can't simply put stockies back on for inspection.

not really, pre au are almost 0 offset depending on who you talk to. Also, cars like supras/heaps of jap cars have the same 114.3 pcd, and 0 offset wheels for them are not hard to find

you're by far best sticking with 15's, if you go any larger its a defect, and if you get picked up on your wheels, they will most likely pull you up on everything else aswell.

Do have you flared the guards on the escort? I used to have 13x6 dragways with zero offset and they scrubbed hard with 205 tyres.

No - i rolled the edge a bit - i had 215/50's no probs.
