Has anyone fitted 17" rims with 215/40 - 0 offset to a MK2 before.
Other wise what's the biggest combos used on standard guards?
Thanks.
Darren.

Gosh,
17" wheels look well proportioned on my VL Commodore.
On a baby Escort would probably be bigger than the entire car?

The correct offset for a 7" rim on an Escort is 12P.

A zero offset would place the rim 12mm closer to your outside guards. Plus a larger overall diameter may pose problems with clearing the lower front lip of the guards when turning.

17's will go onto an Escort no worries providing you have the correct offset. I'm sure there're a few guys on here with this arrangement.

See the prob is - I want 40 series tyres for handling. I could go 15" rims but to be honest I'm not really keen on any. 16's leave me with only 4 tyres to choose from. 17's there are several I like and wider tyre choice. [x2x]

17's can work, but makes it "un roadworthy" what sort of wheels did you want to get? If you email compomotive I know they gave me the correct offsets a while ago cant remember then though.....

I have 17x9.5 on the rear and 17x7 on the front... U will need to run +12 offset if ur going 7s allround or they will scrub hard... unless u raise the car like a 4wd lol. they dont look to big considering its such a small car anything bigger would look funny...

I used to run 16x7 superlites with nankang tyres and they were actually a decent tyre

Yeh well 16's were my first choice until i went to the tyre shop and found that tyres were going to be hard to get.

I went through offset with a guy (very helpful see below) and 8" with 0 ofset should sit just niceley - however i have no idea how this will go for turning.
