Hi and thanks for letting me join the forum. My name is Johnny and I live in Glasgow Scotland. I own a roadworthy 1957 Mk2 Zodiac and a 1965 Mk3 Zodiac restoration project. I am an active member of our Scotland based classic Ford club "The Pre '67 Ford Owners Club". One of the duties in the club I do is helping to get UK licence plates for classic Ford vehicles. At present I am trying to help a member register a Mk1 Escort van imported from Australia. I need to decode the V.I.N. plate in order to verify it is a Mk1 Escort van(the British authorities are very sticky and although I can vouch after seeing photos that it is a Mk1 van the British authorities require decoded plate information. Can anyone direct me to where I would find this information ? Thanks in advance, Johnny.
Here are some links to my project work:

This link may help. It decodes the identification numbers & letters on the plate, but not the actual VIN no.

You can email Ford for the verification letter, as per this response:

Thank you for your e-mail to Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited (Ford Australia).
