BootOn
Hi

Not really urgent but I was wondering if mk1 and early mk2 side fuel tanks are the same?
If anyone has pictures it would be helpful

Cheers
Nick

Same shape etc , but the mk2 has a return line on some later ones late 76 on. I've a mk1 tank in my mk2 just to make it easy , also the sender in mk2s tend to fail as well so swap for mk1 sender. While it's out ya may as well buy a new flex joiner as these split and leak.

Cool, thanks for the information/advice. So; same but better.
I want it for an efi conversion so will replace the outlet and plumb in a return.

Hej Nick

If you are converting to EFI where are you planning to locate fuel pump/s?

I am doing similar however wish to maintain the under boot floor fuel tank.

I've got a Bosch 040 pump which I was given a while ago and it came with an APS bracket from an xr6t kit, it looks like it would hang quite nicely in the void where the drop tank was removed from.
I don't want to have to engineer the fuel system so I think it'll be close enough to a factory option tank to argue. Adding a surge tank or fuel cell requires certification under NCOPS and my old drop tank was leaking like a sieve.
I'll add a pic or two to my project thread, it's a simple enough bracket to copy

Does anyone have either or both of the top side-tank mounting brackets for sale, pictures of them in place would help either

From memory they were just pretty basic tabs spot welded under the lip for the boot seal, shouldn't be too hard to knock up a set out of scrap.
Cheers Drew...
