I bought a bunch of bits from Burton Power when I was in the UK last year and managed to get some work done on my MK2 RS2000 project today only to find that two parts I bought don't seem to fit. I got a heavy duty engine mount which bolted on the the gearbox OK but the holes don't line up with the body. The QH clutch cable doesn't appear to be long enough. Are there differences between the UK Escorts and the Aussie ones that I'm not aware of?
 
In the picture below I've got the clutch jammed so that its in the normal "uncompressed" position.
 

Im not surprised the mount doesn't fit, these are 40 year old cars built by drunk englishmen...or aussies. Id forgive that and move on.
the clutch cable is interesting. did we get a different gearbox to the poms? especially around he bellhousing area? something back in my mind thinks this could be an issue. I assume the cable is mounted to the pedal correctly and is pulled all the way through and sitting correctly through the firewall.

QH catalog I downloaded some time ago says QCC1062 is the right one for MK2 RS2000, and should be 1003mm long.
- Was the bag sealed when you got it?  (possible substitute)
- Does your cable equal 1003mm?
- If so, check the seating of the cable as suggested above.  IIRC they have a grease pot at the top that needs to be seated correctly with the tube in the firewall.
- Check pedal position.   Presume I've got the clutch jammed  means pedal sitting at normal height. 
else..... Is it pulled too far down by return spring (cable attaches other side of pedal shaft) , thereby hauling cable higher than usual at-rest position? And the top of the cable is correctly seated?  (just checking .... and check again)
 
Some simple Clutch cable fitting for idiots  questions, coz I've been proven to be an idiot before !!  Well, actually more than once. Doh !!

RE clutch cable, like JP said make sure its mounted to the pedal and firewall properly. You'll need to lever the fork forward to slip the cable end in. The uncompressed position is not the one to go by. The fork will be about halfway, theres a base measurement in one of the workshop manuals but I'll be buggered if I can find it right now. The cable should stretch a little once fitted and settled...

Should be 3-4mm between adjuster nut and abutment face   (so sayeth the manual)
 
p.s. I too have had issues with Burtons parts not fitting (M14 switch thread is not 3/4UNC) despite confirming via email that it was the right part for the Type 5 box. .... and the wrong clutch release bearing .....

Yes the Uk cars are a little different to the Australian cars I a few ares. Most escorts in the uk did not have the same gear box as the Aus cars. The had a slightly smaller box with a non detachable bell housing. This meant the hole for the gear stick and the gearbox mounts were in different positions. The only uk cars with the same gearbox as ours were the RS2000 and Mexico. And they had a different extension housing on the gearbox to the Aus cars. They also used a aluminium bell hosing, engine mounts, spacers under the gearbox and prop mounts. You will probably find that some of this relates to why the speedo cable is different.

Burtons do a longer cable for a cossy conversion.. I have some people drill a hole in the tunnel and run the cable into the car to get it away from the exhaust. Might be an option.

You can probably still use the rubber mount just not the metal part.

Just been out to the shed for a look, my clutch fork is about 95mm from the bellhousing when the cable is installed...

Can't trust QH to make their parts the correct length either. I bought two speedo cables: an FSK2013 for RS2000 and a longer Cortina one (FSK2014) to use in a similar car with a 5 speed box. The FSK2013 is supposed to be 1420mm long, but is in fact 1880mm, which longer than the Cortina one. A few emails were exchanged, but they just petered out with no answer. I guess I'm lucky it is longer and not shorter at least.

I had to shorten mine. Was way too long from burton
