G'day guys I've recently acquired a 4dr ghia. It's my first escort (I've wanted one since I was 17). Now Id be the first to admit I'm not the most mechanically minded bloke and have never worked on many cars before so I have got my hands on a Gregory's manual. I have a question to start the ball rolling, can any one help me locate the jacking points on the car (front and rear). They are not noted in the manual and don't stand out to me on the car. Any photos or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, you'll find a wealth of info on here about escort stuff, and lots of guys willing to help. No question is too silly. The rear jacking point is just forward of where the rear spring starts and the front ones in the sill just under the front doors.  The lip at the inside of the sills will fit in the slot in the top of the jack ( wind up type )

Len, thanks for that mate, I did feel a bit sill asking but I really did not want to damage this beautiful car. This weekend I'll get her up and start on the brakes. Thanks again! I'll get some photos up once I figure out how to :)

I'm on a couple of different forum sites and this one is the most friendly and helpful one out of the lot. Don't hesitate to ask questions mate. You won't learn if you don't ask.

Got the old girl up today and had a look over the drum brakes as it seemed to be a bit slow to stop. Got the drum apart and it seems the bearing is loosing a bit of grease and spread it over the pads etc. that will be a job for another day though as I'm unsure of what work is involved and how readily available the parts will be. Gave the drums a good clean and it stops like a dream now (until the grease spreads again)!
Pretty happy with my effort though.

You`ll have no problems finding mechanical parts for an escort, panels and whole cars in wreckers on the other hand are getting scarce. One thing i will suggest is take lots of pics as you tear things apart, what might look easy and obvious at the beginning can be a real mind phuck  when it comes to put it together. Pics will be a great help when your sitting there going "WTF?"
Looks like a nice tidy old girl mate, you got a great starting platform
