Im having troubles with the boot lock and door locks on my mk1 2 door escort. The doors have locks in them but i dont have a key, is there a way to get keys cut with out having to buy new locks as well?. And the Boot lock i think may be missing parts off it as i am unable to fit it to the car i have attached a couple of photos of it if anyone can see if its missing something. Luckly it came with a key for that! Thanks any advice will be much appreciated.

I you take the door lock to any decent locksmith they will be able to sort a key for you, as for the boot lock, take the latch off and it will slide right in.

I took my ignition switch to a locksmith and they cut a key for it. Shouldn't be any different with a door lock.

Okay i appear to have got the boot lock sorted thanks. Just got quoted 350$ for new keys on the door locks, does this seem like a good price seems a bit steep.

I honestly can't remember how much I paid. I don't think I would have paid anything like $350 though. Might be worth getting several different quotes.

Thats a bit bloody steep, is he rekeying all three locks on the car and giving you solid gold keys? Take it to a small locksmith, they are still in business because they are good and are usually small because they are a one or two man concern. The high price was a piss off price, they didnt want the job so quoted you a ridiculous price.

What he said!

My local locksmith pulled my ignition switch apart and serviced it and I don't think he even charged, it's not that big a job.
