I managed a little more progress today, we measured to new valves to see if the existing seats in the Cossie head could be used, no joy, we need to go to 38.5mm valve seats to accomodate the STi valves. All in all the conversion should see a substantial flow improvement over the std Cossie valves and substantially improved thermal handling capabilities.
I also stripped the new oil pump from Cosworth, measured it for clearance, cleaned it and preped it with assembly lube and primed it with vasoline. It is now installed and ready for action.
The sump needed some minor clearancing to fit with the small turbo Escort Cossie windage tray, thats now all done and ready for assembly, the gated baffle is also now fitted to the sump.
The rear main seal is installed and the ring gaps are all checked and prepared ready for install. Next visit will see the Argo rods washed up, bigend clearances checked and then pistons and rods will be assembled into the block ready to go.
Hopefully the head will be dummied up with the new valves so we can do piston to valve clearance checks once the bottom end is assembled, with the cam and valve combination never being done in a Cossie engine prior to this, Im hoping all is good and no further mods will be needed.
I should have some more pics after the next visit
