Since when did you decided on a late model twin cam head.
Very surprised to see that on top. Inspirational work dude.

Hi Mark, I had made the decision many months ago...now im not sure again[8~2] The trouble is that the cam covers arent interchangable and I need to modify the correct head to suit the cam cover of choice[B)]

You do make life hard on yourself.

You could just screw the old engine package together with the subi cams.
While you build the new engine up.

Is the late model head compatible with the old Pinto bottom end?
I don't quite follow, what is stopping you going for the newer head.

It's what makes you happy that counts, but you can't beat the look of the old covers in my opinion,my cover on my cossie is very close to the colour of your car and it looks great, just a little question Phil,i don't know what pencil coils you were running but i'm about to get some AEM pencil coils and i havn't had time to get out to my car to measure so i thought i would ask you what length are the suited ones the short or long,i cant remember the measurments for them right now.
Any way as above my vote goes to "OLD COVER" but once again it all comes down to what floats "YOUR" boat.

Hi Mark,

No problem using either head as they both bolt up in every other way,its just the cam cover that has a different bolt pattern so that determines which head gets the attention. I am 90% decided on using the late head and rocker cover. My main reasons are 1. It will be very original in that they are rare and 2. It will look extremely clean compared to the traditional cover.

Im interested to hear other opinions as its not to late to go either way yet[%]

Cheers,

Phil.

Hi Troy,

Thanks for the vote[:p]

You will need long coils for the traditional cam cover or short for the modern cover[;^)]

Cheers,

Phil.

Get both heads tested for air flow. it might make your mind up for you.
Going new will save you fixing the cracks in the old head you will soon have.
They are getting old being alloy and all.

There both internally identical so I cant use that deciding factor[(#)]

The late one is from a Small Turbo Escort Cosworth and the traditional style one is Large Turbo Escort Cosworth so both are as young as cossie heads come...neither have done many kms
