I was wondering if it was possible and what it would take
to put a gemini 5 speed box into an escort with a pinto engine

Whats the reasoning? 
Im just guessing, but would most likely need custom bell housing, modified shafts, modified clutch/fork/flywheel… etc so a lot of work for nothing great. Or am i missing something about Gemini boxes?

Ford Sierra 5 speed or even Celica gearbox with a Dellow bell housing are usually more than adequate.

the reason is because i found one for $200 much cheaper than the celica and sierra would it be strong enough is my main question

Id seriously stick with a standard escort 4 speed and get a 3.54 diff and save your money for other parts on the car 

car has no gearbox
 

Where are you from?

The gem gearbox is one piece with the bellhousing and the starter is on the wrong side, thats before you even consider input & output shaft splines; lengths and adapter plates, strength etc. Unfortunately cheap, readily available 5speed conversions are rare.
