Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of cutting and chopping my new project. I've been looking at these aluminium 3 core radiators on eBay. There are so many different types and was wondering if they are much better than the standard radiator? Also what size am I best of getting to suit the 2L? Would it be better to buy a capri/cortina or mk2 specified one?

A lot of them are varying sizes, does anyone know the ideal size for a 2L Pinto? It's a 74 mk1 but we can make any cut outs and mods to fit anything bigger. As far as I've read all that needs to be done is cut out the bottom radiator support and extend it?

Thanks,

Jayden.

Its not necessarily about capacity.  The reason you need to recess the lower support panel when fitting a pinto  is simply because the engine is longer than a Kent.  I know a few guys who have bought the alloy ebay jobs and they seem ok.  For the price they might be worth a shot. They are around a third of the price i paid for mine to be made by RACE radiators but if you compared them side by side you can easily see the difference

Thanks fellas,

I bought a 62mm alloy radiator off eBay for about $240. I'll give it a go and we'll see when the car comes together whether it's any good or not. That links great evo I'll have a good rear before I install it.

Thanks again.

Whats the car to be used for?  I know plenty of guys running the standard radiator in race cars with no probs.

You can always upgrade later if the car is running too hot.

Cheers

I would be opting for a standard FoMoCo 2L radiator over cheap chinese aluminium one any day of the week.
Ask how many FPI (fins per inch) the chinese ones are and compare to standard
