Hi All,

Can anyone do me a favour and tell me what struts these are? Reason I ask is when buying the car I was told that it ran Escort TC struts but I am struggling to know if in fact that is true. they does have the bolt on steering arms. I am wondering also if these take Capri hubs to allow me to fit bigger brakes or if Capri brakes would go on these hubs/struts.

With capri/tc struts the tube hangs below the stub attachment by about 40mm, this looks like standard struts. Also the bigger disc/calipers will only fit on the capri/tc struts, so if the brakes are small then they will be attached to the standard strut.

Nice one, that's what I thought. Once again a seller and a member of this forum has lied to me when selling an item. Beginning to get a bit hacked off with liars and cheats. I hope it's not just a small Ford thing, I don't know how some people sleep at night.

stevieg I don't know whom you got these from but before you go jumping in the deep end accusing people do some real research, measure the struts up yourself or if you don't have a clue what your buying and what for, then don't buy until you do and are satisfied.

Thanks for the advice, very good of you. I thought perhaps joining an online club would be a good thing with my very limited knowledge and skills. Part of me learning i thought. Seems that was a big mistake, as correct me if I am wrong here, if I buy a car trusting the sellers description of that car, I buy it unseen but again, another mistake according to you. I thought if a club member says TC struts then that is what they are selling. Don't know about you but when I sell something I am honest and upfront about everything. Lesson learnt again at this rate my cash will be gone very soon but, yes I will have learned a lot.

Incorrect, it means if your not very knowledgeable then you should be asking the questions and researching first rather than spending up and then claiming to be ripped off based on one forum reply. Forum as based on sharing knowledge so why not use this forum to ask the questions and those in the know I'm sure will do their best to help, then your armed with the knowledge you can be confident handing over your hard earned for the right product.
 
Buying a 30+ year old Escort site unseen is fraught with danger. You must be a little looser on your purse strings than I, but if there's more than a couple of thousand involved its worth a few hundred bucks for a trip to see for yourself.
 
I'd hope that there isn't any member on here specifically out to rip off others that are 'not very knowledgeable'. 
 
I hope in your case it turns out that you do in fact have some TC struts, if not hopefully the seller will offer refund.

Unfortunately these days there are many people out there who are after a quick buck and take a less than honest approach. 
 
Don't let the bad experience ruin the great advice and contacts to made on here.  Like everywhere you have good and bad but on here the bad is seldom seen and certainly not tolerated.

Rant over. Got my realist glasses on now. Thanks for the pic Matt, I do get the idea that these are standard Escort ones as they don't protrude at the bottom. Silly me, lucky for me I have a money tree growing on my estate. That's a joke btw. Thanks again Rhys, I know what you are saying is from a good place as well as good advice. I have heaps of enthusiasm though and I will get there eventually.

I wasn't aware that the MKI's had bolt on steering arms so there you go.

Struts look like early mk1 escort, capri struts hang below the hub casing as shown in Matt75's post and have a 50mm shock body.. Matt's pics looks to have a Volvo calliper. Escort twin cam and standard capri struts are the same, they are 1 inch lower that a standard strut and have a differnet hub and brake disc//Cheers Owen
