Hi guys,

Its time to order some new springs for my mk2 to sort out my ride height.

I've got 2 ltr struts fitted but Im not sure what the spring diameter is. The Burtons catalogue show springs either 120mm (non-RS) or 130mm (RS/Mexico).

I didn't think there was a difference between standard 2ltr struts and RS struts in Aussieland - did all AUS models come with standard (120mm???) struts?

Cheers

There is no difference here between 2 litre struts and RS2000 struts.  Remember in the UK the only 2 litre cars were RS's.

The difference here is 2 litre or non 2 litre struts.  Check to see what info there is on the King springs website.  Part number for 1600 springs id KFFL11 and 2 litre is KFFL13

Thanks for the tip Gdub!

I didn't realise that the 2 litre only came out in RS and Mexico vehicles in the UK... That clarifies everything then. Still, I contacted King Springs Australia and quizzed them on front spring ID and OD for their 2 litre springs - 110mm ID and 134mm OD.

Rang Burtons in the UK and quizzed them too, the sales rep on the phone had no idea, BUT went and measured them up for me straight away  Came back with 109mm ID and 133mm OD. Close enough!

So for anyone out there considering ordering springs from Burtons (cos they're cheap and come in various spring rates and heights) - non-RS/Mexico springs are the ones you want for AUS 1600 struts and RS/Mexico struts suit our 2 litre struts. Sorted :)
