Hey all.

I just want the low down on Spanish webers. I'm looking at a pair of 40DCOE151's for my escort. They are well priced but I'm not sure about the pro and cons, not being italian etc. Thanks

Im not sure on the late model 40's but i suspect the carbies will be fine but they wont be the ideal set up for your Escort. This is the case with 45's where the late model versions e.g. 45DCOE-152 have the wrong progression ports in the bodies which makes them much more difficult to tune for older style engines. They are more suited to twin cam engines where the spark plug is positioned in the centre of the combustion chamber.

I have a spanish pair of 48IDF's and they are great but they are a different proposition to the DCOE's

I bought new 45's for my 1600 and they helped it make 100 gee gee's at the wheels.

Dyno guy said they weren't perfect (progression holes and some other technical shiite) but I never had an issue with them. I figure you pay ~$700 for a 40 year old set off feebay or a few hundred more for a brand new set.
