Looking for a set of new pistons for a YB rebuild. Wossner price is great at the moment from http://wossneronline.com .

They are also light(ish) compared to some of the others (Wiseco) and appear to have valve cutouts which is a bonus if I ever decide to put bigger cams in.

Any opinions out there? I only want 300-350hp.

Phil does have a sexy pistons but standard Mahle are fine - up to 500 hp - you will not need cutouts as a BD14 cam inlet cam is all you will need (a real 350 should be achieveable with 26-28 psi on a good turbo on standard cams, pistons and c.r.)

Seriously, save your money and use standard stuff - its strong enough and you will need the money on other stuff on car.

If you must buy wossner make sure you get the clearances right - (which I have NFI about but plenty of people have a lot of piston slap on those pistons which will wear the bore).

Thanks for the advice, but the Wossner are actually less exy than the Mahles, so the real question is, are they okay?

I will ask a few people who may actually know the clearances involved - most people dont. What does the manufacturer recommend for clearance?

BTW - how much are these pistons - I will try to dig out what I paid for Mahle 7.5:1 pistons a few years ago.

The block has been torque plate honed now so very close[:p]

Lincoln, recommended clearances are 0.1mm/0.004" according to the web site (Not like my noisy old skool pinto cossie pistons that were 0.006"!!)

Oh, and I've already spent heaps of money on the rest of the car [8~2] so no worries there.
