Great job.  Like the loud pedal!

What did drill the jets out to?

I just need to work out how to get the old accelerator cable off, F knows how though.

I need octopus arms!

Cheers,

Matt

if i remember my mkII's, there is a metal retainer to slide off the cable end, a small screwdriver might be the go.
My jets are 1.8 too, they may need to goto upto 2mm tho - i can feel it, my big ported head and FR33 cam lobes can handle a bit of a fuel load methinks :)
Putting the carbs on has made me want to drive the car again - motivating me to splash some well deserved paint on the old 300,000km+ body, sadly my car has been in many hands and seen abuse from all angles (character building), i'm not innocent either but i have kept it alive this far and don't plan on giving up any time soon. The best part of the body is that it has a solid floor and hardly any rust - rare these days to have an original floor unwelded, it must have seen years of garage time in it's early life as a 1300, it also has pop out quarter windows, another rarity.
September 75 is pretty much the end of production for mk1's, i've not seen another 75' mk1 yet.

Awesome stuff,

I know how to replace the cable in theory but in practice it's one of those things that is just at wierd angles and gives you the eartha kits!

Start up a build thread to keep you motivated and we can abuse you if you get slack!

Just get Marty to paint the car for you.  He'll have it done in a weekend!

Cheers

lol marty is a great help, i dont have the same hunger as does he, i'm into motorbikes too and i have put alot of hours into them, call it multiskilling lol. Bikes have a special place in my heart too as does my escorts - i will never part with them - never give up.
i'll paint my own cars in good time :) I have to get better somehow eh, i won't expect a showcar paintjob but i'll build me a solid car which will look sick from a distance ;) metalic blue always does

Been a bit quiet so I thought I give an update.

Just finalizing the roadie to get the car on club plates.

Only thing left now is to replace the rear g/box oil seal.

Just ordered alloy hubs, bearings, grease caps  & adjustable TCA's from the UK.

Going away for Easter so hopefully by the end of next week the roadie will be sorted.

Cheers

A few things arrived today -

New Grp4 alloy front hubs (RIX Engineering) , caps & bearings but usuing the standard wheel studs

Adjustable track control arms

I got them all from MotorsportTools.com.  Great, friendly guys.  Highly recommend them.  Great prices too.

I am getting a mate to draw up some of the 120Y master cylinder sandwich plates in AutoCad so I can get some made up so I will have a few up for grabs if anyone is keen.  Just let me know.

Cheers,

Matt

Also dropped the car in today to get the exhaust measaured for the roadie and it came back at 110db.

Does anyone have a standard exhaust I can buy or borrow for a while?

As to get mine "legal" will cost me $260 and then I'll just be putting mine back in once I get the roadie anyway?  Preferably from the extractors back.

Cheers,

Matt

Matt,
Can you fit a perforated plate in between your exhaust flanges? Pack it with steel wool before the plate and it will help quieten it down.

Hadn't thought of that.  What size should the holes be?

Would probably make the car run like crap but who cares.

Will have a go tomorrow.

Cheers,

Matt
