Finally got the LSD back all built up.  My mate had a spacer machined up rather than use the crush washer.  I have read a bit about the pros and cons of the solid spacer but have not found any definitive answers on which is better.  Given it cost me nothing I am happy he has gone to the trouble.

The bolts holding the crown wheel on just touched the diff housing so a little tickle with the die grinder was required.  Is this normal?

Hi Matt, rebels look good! What diff ratio did you go for? Are you 4 or 5 speed these days?
Many years ago I had similar clearance problems with the CW bolts just fouling on the housing. I was building a clubman at the time and trying to save weight so I used a Quaiffe ATB in an Anglia centre which is slightly lighter, thinner in the webbing  etc. Probably a few variations in castings over the years plus different LSD/ATB's available, bolt heads etc.

looking good,

Hey mate,

Yes, I am very happy with the rebels.  You see heaps of minilites (with good reason) but these are pretty rare.

3.89 is what I went for in the end.  It's just a 4 speed currently but I am on the look out for a celica 5 speed conversion if anyone has one floating around surplus to requirements.

I know you can use flywheel bolts to replace the crown wheel bolts which may have more clearance but there wasn't much material to remove anyway.

Cheers,

Matt

hey mate , great read !!!
wondering where you got your manifold from to suit the R1 carbs ? sorry if i missed it in this thread ...

I got it from Bogg Bros in the UK.  They were the ones who started the Bike Carb Revolution and by far and away the best manifold I have seen.

I have a spare set of R1 Carbs I am selling on eBay at the moment if anyone is keen.  Let me know.

Cheers,

Not much happening during winter.  Have lost a bit of motivation but a few things are happening.

Picked up a 2nd hand adjustable vernier for the race motor.  It was a little rusty and coroded but came up great.

End of the month I am finally getting the power steering installed which should be cool.  Due to an arm injury I find it hard turning around the low speed corners due to the amount of caster I am running.  I painted the EPS setup Matt Black so it won't stand out so much once installed.

Cheers

Love the look of that cam pulley

Should be interesting to see what you think about the power steering once installed

Cheers Ryan, It's a standard cam wheel machined out and the alloy plate bolted in.

Yeah, looking forward to improved steering too.  There is a Motorkhana coming up in Bendigo that it should really come in handy for.

Cheers

I got to ask, where did you get the power steering and how much did it cost?
