Yeah the cages aren't exactly bolt in are they.... Looks good, almost a shame to paint all that cold drawn steel, six hours is alright though it took me alot longer
Are your window winders clashing with the cage? Bothered me a bit, shaved down the winder spline in the end....
Cheers Drew...

Hey Drew, Yeah the winders are in the way bit apparently gemini ones fit OK.

The cage was already starting to get surface rust so I painted it with some matt black anti rust enamel.  I'm happy with the finish.

Now I need to get some padding.

Good work Matt, all the hard work you have put into this car definitely shows. The cage in black is very fitting to the car.

It would be interesting to know how much of a difference the cage makes to how the car drives being all stiffened up.

Gemini ones should fit but they arent screw on, the have a clip behind the winder holding them on. There are also two lengths of chrome ones so make sure u get some short ones. If you have any issues finding any I can get my hands on a couple here in Adelaide and send them over.

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for the comments.  Yeah, I drove it back from my mates joint after installing the cage but didn't notice much but I am doing a track day at Sandown on the 9th Feb so that will be  a better test.

With the Gemini handles you need to drill a hole in them.

If you have a set of the shorter ones that will rock.

I'll shoot you a PM.

Cheers,

Ok no worries. I sent my mate a message because he has geminis. We went through a stage of trying to find them for his car so im sure he would have some lying around. If not I know a wrecker where I can grab some, just cant go there till late next week as im on holiday.

Cheers

Finished painting and installing the padding.  I used the new style padding on the tops of the doors and windscreen and the old style on the front legs and lower door bars.  Apparently you can't use the old style foam at all now so it may have been in vain.

Seems they'd rather have exposed bars than the old style padding.

Anyway I'll leave it on and will remove it if need be.

Also, used some clips to secure the battery cable too.

Cheers

Great stuff Matty, how much swearing did yours require?

Get some pics up of your extra bars too.

Lots of swearing to be honest ... ive only added one bar so far under the dash. required the steering column to be adjusted, and seeing as im not using the key barrell. i used its mount and made this up, sorry rough pic as i mocked it up

Lookin good mate, I am doing an EPAS conversion so may look at an under dash bar for ease of mounting and added strength.

Cheers
