Hey Shaun,

I was going to go the whole hog and get a cage welder in but I am not that committed to my shell as i want to get a 2 door MK 1 or 2 and bubble arch / flare it so will then get a bespoke cage made.

Bond have been very helpful and quite reasonably priced for the amount of work in the cage.

I've gone for a 6 point with side intrusion bars, double braced main hoop and harness bar.

Hope to get it by weeks end.

A mate will help me install it so I'll report back once done.  Expecting a lot of swearing.

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks Matt,

Sounds exactly what I am after, only to suit a MK1.
Will definately drop by and stick my head in and have a look once you're done.

Thanks Ratta I'm not that handy and wouldn't trust myself to build a roll cage.

Shaun, pop in anytime for some home brew.

Cheers

The repairs look good, nice to see it done in metal..... My Bond cage went in no worries, just had to measure not once, not twice but thrice Out of interest the cars look like they're on club rego's and seem to be modified. Lucky for you guys, we have to have them bog stock to comply here in the west. Whats on the brew menu? Just put down this years coopers vintage recipe. just gotta let it sit now, patience Drew........

Cheers Drew,

I have installed one in the past into a 2 door RS so hopefully it'll be easier in a 4 door.

Yes, the club rego is an interesting one.  We (RS Owners Club Vic) require a roadworthy certificate before we'll allow a car on club plates.

Just kegged an Apple & Pear Cider and have a hoegaarden clone bubbling away.  I moved away from bottles and now have a keg set up.

Cheers

The Bond roll cage turned up and GDub and I installed it on Sunday.  (I say we, but in truth I did very little indeed).

It is supposedly a "Bolt in Cage" but in reality we had to shorten the door bars and the rear wheel arch legs.  Once the rear legs were cut they also required welding onto the plates too.

All in all it took us nearly 6 hours all up and I still need to drill the second set of retaining bolt holes.

I am very thankful to have such great guys in the club who are more than willing to help out with things like this though I may have used up a fair bit of good will.

Still needs painting too but I'm off till the 13th so it'll all be done soon.

Cheers,

Matt

Same thing here in SA too.  We also have to fill out a stat dec stating that they are as per original too!

Hey Mate,

The coilovers came with new struts tops as well.  SMCKA sells the strut tops seperate.

Cheers,

Matt
