Just something interesting - I had the car running last night when I accidently touched the extractors and crapped myself thinking that's gonna hurt when nothing happened.

Since painting them with VHT paint they are very cool and I can actually touch them after it had been idling for about 15mins not that I will keep pressing my luck though.

I read on the paint can that the paint contains a ceramic formula to do just this.

Interesting.

Cheers

Maybe that cylinder was missfiring at idle. Try the others

Looking good Matt. Looks like you've got a useful amount of castor there now.

Hopefully, I have run out of adjustment on the sway bar so that's about all the caster I can get without the wheels touching the arches.

Though I am yet to get a proper alignment so if we can decrease the track using the adjustale TCA's then I may be able to get more caster.

Have to wait and see.

280mm height at the front should be pretty good. Thats about the height of my old green MK2 and my yellow RS. Sure the low cross member can be a pain in the arse but either Zac's block idea will work (if you are at home) or i used to jack it up from one side under the chassis rail then throw a stand under allowing me to then get the jack under the cross member.
If those strut tops are tight enough to drive it, bring it over and we will get it sorted in minutes ...

Thanks Gareth,

I went for a drive around the block yesterday and the right wheel rubs horribly on the guard so i need to sort that out then I will be around.

I'll have a crack at this morning and call you later if I get it sorted.  I got one done up though!

I got one side sorted and so I will hopefully get to the other one tomorrow.

They both hit when going over speed bumps so I may also need to get the guards lipped too.

Gave it a wash too.

Cheers,

Matt

Been a bit slow of late.  Time to pull the finger out.

I had the guards rolled tonight so that will hopefully sort out some of the tyre rubbing issues as i went for a drive last weekend and when I went over a speed hump the tyres caught the guard lip and bent it out and it cut into the tyre.  So hopefully all sorted now.

Wheel alignment to be sorted out on thursday hopefully.

I am on the point of starting my engine (Pinto) build.  I have a mate who is finishing off the porting to a head this weekend so this will be the next phase to piss a lot of money away on.

Cheers,

I had the front alignment done today.

39.5 deg C and driving the car into the city in peak hour traffic for an hour probably wasn't the smartest move but the car did not heat up at all!

I fricken did though.  Had one issue when it stopped due to a loose fuel pump wire but it went perfectly for a 30+ year old car on a scorcher of a day.

I now have heaps of caster & camber and it drives straight too!  The tyre rubs a little on left turns but I can live with it.

Massive thanks to David at Swan St Tyres in Richmond (fellow RSOC VIC Member) for getting it done on such a hot day.

Cheers,

Matt
