Just need some information on the bearing inside the timing cover, the one the supports the idler pully. I need to change it as it is getting very noisy, is this a hard job and do I need ant special tools?

Hard to get out and hard to find out here, Ebay UK sometimes sell them (none there right now) IIRC they were about 40 UK pounds.

I removed my timing cover today, was going to remove the fiber timing gear, but hit a snag when I removed the bolt then removed the excentric for the fuel pump I came upon a steel pin that has been fitted into the excentric. Is this a factory thing? or has some one fidled with the cam position?. I think not to the second question as the key way looks to be factory but would like to confirm b4 removing the fiber gear and changing it for a steel one. Also John/JR to press out the old bearing des one press it out from inside the timing cover? or how is it done and how to tell the difference between the bearings?

The roll pin is supposed to be there it locates the fuel pump eccentric on the cam. Never removed a bearing I just swap timing covers I would imagine that they have to be pulled out front ways as the back is cast

Thanks for that, I also have a spare cover but the bearing in that is worse and it is orange, my cover is nice and polished. Will give John a call and see where we go from that point on. Thanks for all the help so far peoples[88]
