looking at this JPS on trademe - a very nice looking car. A friend "checked out the codes given, it is not a JPS, but the later S. Built in December 1975, all 2003 JPS's built in March till Oct 1975. It should not have the rear spoiler (could have been retro fitted) but most telling it will have a white headlining, should have CAPRI in gold on the steering wheel (not chequered flags)and seat insert trim should be Rialto gold. Door handles should be black.. All JPS should have a secondary plate on the slam panel with the words J P SPEC on it...." still - looks the part!

MK3 grille on a MK2 normally they put the MK2 grill on the 3's
JPS clone has the wrong wheels too

Hi All

This car is not the only "S" around that has been mistaken for a "JPS". With a total production of only 2003 cars and short production life - March to October 1975 is is clear that few examples would ever have made it to New Zealand. Seems like any Black Mk2 is fair game with a roll of gold tape...
