Hi all.
has anyone had experience with painting carbies.
Does it work?
Does the fuel effect the paint?
What paint did you use?
I wan thinking of using Heat proof engine paint on my twin sidies.
Just don't want to do it and the paint starts bubbling of or something.

P.s. - i loooooove my sand blaster!!

Ha!
Might not be happening if i don't hear from anyone.
I want to paint them the car colour but i'm not going to coat them in acrylic and then have it all bubble off when it get fuel on it.
But we''ll see how we go.
I have seen it sone before just can't seem to find anything on the net about what paints and so on.

You can paint carbs but i wouldn't do it with acrylic!
Fuel would soften the paint on contact so it wouldn't last long.

I did my inlet manifold & twin 40's on my Pinto in 2 pack & haven't had a problem with it.

nice looking engine, so what your saying is you can or cant use heat proof paint. Like 3m paint?

Thanks.

I personally wouldn't use heat proof paint.
I dont think its that resistant to fuel etc & would be a bugger to keep clean.
2 Pack is nice & easy.If it gets greasey marks on it,they simply wipe off

So do you mean to say with this that 2 pack is resistant to fuel?
I've not used 2pak.
I'll have to get paint mixed now [xx(]$$$
Thanks for you help, was good to hear from someone.

2 Pack isnt totally resistant to fuel, but will last a hell of a lot longer than acrylic paint will.

My carbs and inlet manifold have been painted in 2 pack for just on 10 years now & look just as good as the day i first fitted them.

I agree with the above. My engine ancillaries have also been painted in 2-pak and still look great many years on. Still haven't painted my carbies yet, but it is on the list of things to do (one day)... and they will be done in 2-pak.
