I won an auction for the Ebay kit, did not expect to win as I had a lowish maximum bid in. Anyhow decided to go through with the purchase and going to stay 4 stud. The next thing is master cylinder size, can one use the factory item or do I need to have it replaced? I did ask the question of UPC and they told me most people just use the factory item, but are most people correct?

Work out the area of the caliper cylinders and compare. If they are both twin piston then there is a chance the factory master cylinder will be ok. Both need to be about the same area. If the new brakes have more area then the pedal will go further down and have more leverage, if less area then the pedal will be higher with less leverage. If the cylinders are similar area then I would just put it all together and see how you like it.
I would also like to know how much wider the wheel track will be and would be happy if you report on how it goes, Cheers,...ron.

Upgrading the front brakes and retaining the original MC and rears might spell trouble as you're braking balance (bias) will more than likely be altered. Logically if you upgrade the fronts only you'll be increasing their braking efficiency and therefore applying more braking force (front bias). You may in fact decrease your braking efficiency as you might be locking the fronts before the rears are even beginning to work! If so you'll need to upgrade the rears or install a bias pedal box to enable the front to rear bias to be determined by individual MC sizing (and fine tuned with the balance bar).

If you're doing a brake upgrade this needs to be taken into consideration or all you hard spent $$ could be for nothing.

Thank you for your comments. Befor I fit the kit, I will be looking into such things, I need an engineer in Adelaide. I got the kit for $530 to my door, figured for a road going car this was the best over all in terms of price and parts supply in years to come. Items sourced from O/S are all fine and good if they are still made in 6-10yrs time, how ever I can wander into any Auto shop in Australia with this kit and rattle off a common part number and be all good, same can be said for the Hoppers Stoppers or Castlemain Rod Shop kits. Ultimate performance is not the goal with this car.
