Hey all i've got a stock 2L escort here thats been sitting for a little while as I can't get it into gear. It worked fine when I first got it.

It goes in fine when the car is off but when I turn it on it won't go in. If I start it in gear the car just launches.

I've had a look under and adjusted it and it looks to be engaging so the problem must be in the gearbox?

Anyone have any advice before I have to take the gearbox out (bit cramped for space so trying to avoid it).

I took some time and i'm thinking it's probably either the throwout bearing or a problem with the fork?

I had a quick search around and if the car has been sitting for a while then the plate could get a bit of surface rust and stick.

Not sure but I suppose i'll have to take the gearbox out when I get some time.

mine stuck after sitting a while. All i needed to do was try starting the car with it in first, clutch in, and after a bit of a jerk forwards it freed itself.
