Has anyone out there got a type 9 fitted to their V6 Capri ? I've got one in mind from a V6 Sierra but am not sure what the ratio's are like (can't be worse than the original box I s'pose) and also whether or not the gear stick comes out at the same place- ie I dont want to do any body modifications. Also does the 5th gear eliminate the need to change the diff pinion gear so it dosnt rev so high on long trips ?
I realise there has to be an adapter plate at the bellhousing but I have a kit available for that.

Paul,
I have a 69GT 1600 auto, I have converted it to a type 9. Direct bolt in no mods required, because it is an auto shell, shifter comes up in the factory hole. Even used the factory auto gearbox mount. Two types of type 9 are around, 1 with a short input shaft (2lt box) and one with a longer input (V6). You may be able to find the length of the input shaft for the original box and the V6 type 9, I think they might well be the same length. The bolt patterns for both boxes should be the same me thinks, so you may not need an adaptor plate.
