I used a Carter rotary pump very quiet and did the job nicely. Just check the specs on any pump you buy as some are designed to push the fuel (rear mount) and some are designed to draw it (engine bay mount)

Generally the noisy ones are by-passing when the float bowl is full so make sure the pump you chose doesnt require a return fuel line.

Most of the noise is caused by the pump dead heading when the fuel is full but by adding a return line it should quieten down but again it depends on what you trying to achieve.

Ok, I rang the local transport authority here is good old SA and it would seem that you can mount a fuel pump in the boot. However it must be in a box or container that protects the pump and lines from things moving around and be vented and drained to outside the car. I am just going to mount my pump under the car and be done with it, this is by far the best option anyhow.

I know this is an old thread just I thought I would continue it .. What brand are people using I know not to use the holleys as massive over kill. Ive been told for my engine I need about 4.5psi.
So I/ m thinking if i get one that does around 3-6 psi I can add regulator to fine tune it. Im thinking one of those solid states off FEEbay..
Thoughts...

Hi Matte, have a look at burton power online catalogue pages 50 and 51. There are all the goodies you need along with some info.
Flowing enough fuel to feed 250+hp will be your problem, this might include a bigger fuel pipe with a regulator and return fuel line too. Looking at the info there I can see that mine is undersized as well.

I use Facet electric fuel pumps on my Escorts and Cortina. They are available in a variety of pressure ratings. Last one I got was $65.00 from Autobarn. I think they're reasonable compared to Burtons or eBay.

My standard v6 mechanical fuel pump didn't keep up with the demands of the holly and dumped litres of fuel into the sump when it failed. I replaced it with a holly and regulator and have had no problems for years. I mounted my elec pump to the side of the spare wheel well near the diff. Noisy but it works. You MUST use a tachometric relay that only runs the fuel pump for a few sec unless it has a signal from the ignition coil that let's it know the engine is running (get these from mechanics who do LPG conversion they are easy to fit) otherwise if you have a crash or fire your fuel pump will happily empty the entire contents of your fuel tank.....think about it! I have the conversion for my wifes V6 Capri on the radar of things to do before next summer as on really hot days you can see the fuel bubbling in the glass bowl & I agree the pump position is in a really terrible spot.

Will be getting a tachometric relay very soon, what a good idea that is [%].
