Peoples,
I have just put new Gaz inserts, Kmack 1 1/2 in lowered coils and adjustable strut tops in the car. The issue is a hard banging sound from the left front suspension, not all the time and over different types of bumps and joins in the road surface etc. The problems I can think of are, loose strut nut, not enough clearance between spring coils or I have the wrong strut in the left hand side of the car.
- I have checked the strut nut, seems to be tight.
- If the coil spring was binding then I would see marks between the coils as the paint would be damaged, I can see no marks.
So I am starting to think that an Escort Twin Cam strut has been used on the left side, the reason for me thinking this is the tab on the side of the strut that supports the flexible hose connection to the solid brake line is a fully enclosed hole and not a fork or prong arrangement like my other Capri struts.
- Can some one explain to me how to identify a Twin Cam verses Capri strut thanks
I am at a bit of a loss with this one as I can see no real differences and a quick measure with the trusty steel rule, gives me no real indication that a spring cup has a different installed height etc.
