G'day All,

Just a quick question, I thought all the early 1970 V6's had Bonnet Pins and Clips, not the Twist-lock type??

Any idea when they changed?

Mine both have the Pins and Clips.

Still, a nice example though.

Regards,

DJC.

Yes most of 1970 had pins.  According to the parts book the twist type are for Nov 70 onwards, however the rear dummy vent, what Ford called the ornament, was dropped in Nov 70 so there wasn't a bonnet listed with both.  It was either pins with vent, or no vent with twist lock.

But the 1971 brochure shows a bonnet with twist locks and rear vent so who knows what happened in Nov 1970.

Nice enough car but has been restored at some point. Dash facia/console inserts aren’t original woodgrain pattern or colour. Bonnet is wrong, especially as the blackout is the shape used in 1972.

As for the price, a line from “The Castle” movie comes to mind.

I didn't know there were different black out shapes so I had a look in the brochures and noticed that the 1971 brochure shows a bonnet with twist locks and the ornament so the parts books has led me in the wrong direction on that one, so I have edited my earlier post.

The thread above was from around 5 years ago. The green 1971 car I posted a picture of has the rear ornament plus twist pins. It’s a Jan 1971 build from memory.

If that is the going price, wonder how much a genuine unrestored Capri GT V6 in one of the sort after colours like Wild Violet, Teal, Vermillion Fire, Wild Plum?

Could one of the exclusive last 11 "Special's" GTV6's be getting towards $150 k then?
