Does anyone have any tips for where to get a heater core for a Mk2 Escort? I gave the local radiator shop mine to repair & they told me it was no good. They then made me a custom one which cost 3 arms & 2 legs but it still doesn't fit.

I am also looking for heater hoses for a 1600. They still make them for a 2L but obselete for a 1600. Any ideas on what I could  use?

Cheers, Craig.

I've used a TE/TF Cortina heater core , they don't fit unless you remove some padding as they are slightly thicker than escort ones. .. By the way , they heat up really well ..i needed to fit a bypass tap on mine thru summer to stop any heat transfer getting in the cabin.

Also there's some pit bikes about that have small Ally rads these days... Could be another option..

Mike from Yesterford should be able to help out with the hoses. If not, try that place on Rooks road where I got my V6 thermostat housing from. Auto Surplus 9873 3566

Hi Glenn, I tried Mike at Yesterford but he couldn't help. He handed me a box full of 2L hoses and said "will any of these do the job?" I might give Auto Surplus another try but last time they had nothing available.

Marty, thanks for the tip ....... I'll have a look around for one.

Cheers, Craig.

Go to the Mackay Rubber website, and check out their catalog. I needed a particular shape and size for a non-standard fitment and ended up ordering a Torana hose that should fit the bill perfectly (arrives tomorrow).

If not too many bends required, you can buy straight hose & then use these http://www.unicoil.com.au/

Craig,
If you have no luck with your heater core, give me a yell.  I'm pretty sure I have a spare which works- will only cost you an arm lol.  len

Hi there, if you have no luck with Craig (of Sutton..) message me. I have a couple of early mk2 cores. One of which I've had full garden hose pressure on with the other end blocked off, with no apparent leaks.

Thanks for all the offers guys, but I have managed to source a heater core.

I have spent a few hours looking through the Mackay rubber catalogue but cannot find anything that will suit for the heater hose that runs from the core to the inlet manifold. A 2L heater hose will do from the heater to the water pump. I am thinking I may need a joiner so I can connect 2 hoses to get the perfect fit.

Summer is coming....maybe I don't really need that heater anyway....

Cheers, Craig.

I just remembered I have these RMD xflow hoses sitting in a box. I won't be using them on my mk1. Are they any use to you?

Not sure what the smaller skinnier one is for, but the other 2 are heater ones I think.
