Hi ... Can anyone help need to know if anyone knows for sure if the mk1 escort two door front window pillars are the same as the four door pillars as I need to get this section... I don't want to be hunting around for a mk1 four door wreaked when it may not fit thanks

Also does anyone know where I can find a mk1 wreaking in Vic to cut this section out if they are the same as its easier to find a four door than a coup

If you only need small sections you may get away with replacement sections that differ slightly.

Do you need the door section or the section around the windscreen?

I recently cut up a four door and also thought that the upper a pillars would come in handy for a two door i also had.  Unfortunately the section is made completely different to accommodate the  different style of door so you cant just cut out the one and weld it to the other.
Glenn if the panel vans have one piece doors then the a pillars on these are probably similar as mk1 2 door.

Are the A-pillars the same shape or profile, and just the gutter mounting different?

I have a mk2 van I'm getting rid of in South East Melbourne. Your welcome to the pillars if you think they'll work

I think that is fixable without stitching in a new section...of course I might be wrong.
The largest visible rust decay is in the seam between the gutter and pillar as evidenced in the first photo. drill out the spot welds of just grind it away flat with the pillar steel and I hope you can just trim the damaged pillar back to the bends and replace with flat there may need to be a few smaller patches and some tricky weld but I think its fixable without a cut and shut from what I can see in those photos. Where are you located?
And to be honest I think you may be in the world of having to repair as Its rare parts to find these days.
have a look here for how its also been done; Post number 95
