Hi any updates with your project? How's the tuning going?

haven't updated for a while.
The tuning has been going well. i have been doing all of the tuning via the hand controller . And using a wideband 02 to log and measure afrs. Very happy with how easy it is to make adjustments.
I got it running reasonably well and has been driven a couple of times.it feels alot better conpared to the carb setup.

Currently i have the head off it as the motor was built along time ago and didnt have hardened seats.have now done that and also changing the camshaft while im there ( higher lift cam). Just spending abit of time getting all the valve geometry right. Anyone who has played with these engines will realize that you just cant bolt a higher lift cam in without checking anything.

Will do final tuning on the dyno when its all back together

Head back from machine shop.
Now to start setting up the valves individually until max lift is achieved.

Nice one Jeff. So the 26661 just won't make the numbers?
Which cam are you using now? I've heard of the Wade turbo grind but couldn't find the specs online anywhere. Clive cams have all the Wade profiles. Do you know if the Wade is more aggressive than the Crow 26661?

Cheers

Other way round the cam i had in it with stock single valve springs was not up to the task. Still drove ok and made decent power but no where near enough for me to enjoy it. Im currently setting the head up with the 26661.as it.was the cam i used previously in my 178kw pinto.(different car over 10 years ago)
Before removing the head the engine was standard with not even unleaded seats. So i have had that done and are doing the 26661 cam swap along with the dual springs to suit.

Cheers

Awesome thanks for that. The Crow double valve springs are really good. Can even be used on mild motors because the spring rate is not too high.

The singles were getting valve float at low revs with boost
The reccomend springs for that cam i think have 90lbs seat pressure .

Have slowed down a bit on it already due to having a couple of other cars of interest in the shed.
. The mk1 could be up for sale just need to find time to refit the cylinder head.

That's a little sad to hear, your other projects must be something special. Will you offer it on the forums first? Such a good looking car I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to move along.

update.
Have done all the tuning with the microtech and very happy with the driveability over the old blow thru carb ( which wasnt too bad just no where near as good as it is now)

Put it on the dyno for a power run
Wastegate set to 10psi. And sounded great all the way through feels really good on the road very clean throttle response

Pretty good results for a stock pinto only mods being the 26661 cam and dual valve springs and the home made efi setup.and ofcourse the 300 dollar China spec turbo ramming close to 11 pounds off boost down its throat.

136.7 rkw first pull

It has gained alot down low. the response straight from idle is now really good and the power just rolls on so much quicker than it used to with the carb no noticble lag on the road just instant power on the crack of the throttle .also
No more excessive rich cruise mixtures like the carb use to have. Couldn't be happier with the new found driveability with efi

I have another boost setting to try just couldn't do it on the day so will be running it up again very soon hoping to get close 150 rwk at around 14 psi.

Will update in a couple weeks when its been back on the dyno with a bit more boost.
